With The Game Awards set to take place tomorrow, we’re just one day away from being bombarded by gaming announcements. To get you nice and prepared, here’s a bunch of the biggest from today, including the news that Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are officially the lowest-rated mainline games in the series.
Elsewhere, Days Gone creative director John Garvin has blamed “woke reviewers” for the game’s tepid reviews, while a potential release date for Diablo 4 has leaked ahead of tomorrow’s show. For all the details, just read on.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Are Now The Lowest-Rated Games In The Main Series
We’ll start off with the news that most Pokemon fans probably saw coming a mile away. Scarlet & Violet has been dragged across the coals for their poor performance and it’s finally represented in the game’s overall Metacritic score. Pokemon Violet currently sits as a pretty dismal 72, although Scarlet is a little higher at 73. That means Pokemon Violet has now taken the title of lowest-rated mainline Pokemon game away from Pokemon Emerald which is sat at 73.
Days Gone Creative Director Blames Bad Reviews On “Woke Reviewers”
Speaking of middling reviews, Days Gone director John Garvin has once again blamed everything other than the game itself for its poor critical reception on launch. While he admitted the game had a few perfromance issues, he seemed to direct most of the blame towards “woke reviewers” that apparently couldn’t handle a “gruff white biker looking at his date’s ass.” Most right-minded individuals have spotted the flawed logic in that statement, and have criticized Garvin for his comments.
Diablo 4 Will Reportedly Release June 5
Diablo 4 is one of the most highly-anticipated titles coming out next year and many expect a release date reveal during The Game Awards. Unfortunately for Blizzard and Geoff Keighley, Microsoft might have accidentally revealed it a little early, as a new listing spotted on the Microsoft storefront claims Diablo 4 is going to launch on June 5, 2023. I guess we’ll find out if that’s accurate tomorrow.
Marvel’s Avengers Is Reportedly Being Sunset In 2023
Even for fans of Marvel’s Avengers, it seems like the future of the game is looking pretty bleak. If the ever-dwindling player count wasn’t bad enough, a new report from reliable Marvel’s Avengers insider Miller Ross has claimed that developer Crystal Dynamics is planning to sunset the title at some point in 2023. Servers will remain up, but Ross claims the developer has no plans to release any new content in 2024.
Yuji Naka Arrested Again, This Time For Alleged Insider Trading Over Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier
Sonic the Hedgehog co-creator Yuji Naka was arrested last month due to insider trading over Dragon Quest Tact. Well, it seems like Naka can’t catch a break at the minute, as he’s now been re-arrested over another insider trading case, this time surrounding Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier. Naka reportedly invested in developer ATeam Entertainment before plans for The First Soldier were made public, similar to what he did with developer Aiming in the Dragon Quest.
